Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure a third consecutive victory as they face Union Berlin on Saturday. Speaking at a press conference, Alonso emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency, following two high-scoring wins that have reignited their season.

Leverkusen, the reigning German champions, showcased their dominance last week with a 5-2 league victory over Heidenheim, followed by a resounding 5-0 triumph against RB Salzburg in the Champions League. These performances highlighted the team’s attacking prowess and marked a significant step toward rediscovering their winning form.

“We want to have again a good feeling,” Alonso said. “After the Heidenheim win, it was better, and it was certainly better after Salzburg. Tomorrow is a different game, but it’s a good moment to show that after two good games, we can play a third good one in a row. I want another clean sheet tomorrow.”

The Spanish coach underlined the importance of consistency, pointing out that Leverkusen has only managed three consecutive victories across all competitions once this season, back in September. With renewed momentum, the team is eager to replicate their undefeated streak from last season when they claimed both the domestic league and cup titles.

The clash with Union Berlin offers an opportunity for Leverkusen to further solidify their place at the top of the Bundesliga table while showcasing their ability to perform under pressure. Alonso’s call for another clean sheet signals a focus on both defensive stability and offensive sharpness as the team looks to build on its recent successes.
