Key leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have arrived in Akure, Ondo State, ahead of Saturday’s highly anticipated governorship election. Among the prominent figures attending the grand finale of the APC’s campaign are Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, and former Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu.

The arrival of these leaders, along with members of the Lagos State APC and key figures from the party, marks a significant step in the buildup to the election. Gboyega Akosile, the media aide to Governor Sanwo-Olu, confirmed their presence, sharing the news via social media platform X. Akosile posted: “Flash: Governors @jidesanwoolu, @DapoAbiodunCON, @biodunaoyebanji, former Deputy Governor of Edo State @phillipshaibu, Lagos GAC members, and leaders of the @OfficialAPCNg have stormed Akure for the party’s mega rally ahead of Saturday’s Governorship election.”

At the heart of the election is APC’s candidate, and incumbent Ondo Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who is hoping to retain his position after assuming office in 2023 following the unfortunate passing of his predecessor, Rotimi Akeredolu. He will face tough competition from other candidates as the people of Ondo head to the polls.

Meanwhile, former PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has issued a statement cautioning against any form of electoral malpractice. Abubakar emphasized that the PDP would take a strong stance to ensure the integrity of the election is upheld.
