Atiku Urges Edo Voters: Reject APC and Embrace a Prosperous Future

In a powerful statement shared on his X account, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has issued a stern warning to the people of Edo State ahead of the upcoming governorship election. Titled “The Clear Choice for a Prosperous Edo State,” his message highlights the urgent need for change and the dire consequences of supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Atiku stressed that Edo voters must not be swayed by the misleading promises of the APC. He emphasized that the party has abandoned the fundamental principles of good governance, leaving the voices of ordinary citizens unheard.
“As you prepare to cast your vote on Saturday, September 21, 2024, reflect on the incredible power you hold,” Atiku urged. “Your vote is a vital tool for breaking free from the chains of poor governance and charting a new course for our beloved state.”
He criticized the APC for masquerading as a friend to the masses while pursuing a self-serving agenda. “They have lured unsuspecting voters with empty promises, revealing their true nature as a party driven by a relentless hunger for power,” he stated. “Under their leadership, Nigeria has descended into an abyss of suffering, marked by poverty, despair, and insecurity.”

Atiku painted a grim picture of the current reality, noting that hunger has become a leading cause of death in Nigeria. “Our people are not perishing from disease but from starvation,” he lamented. “The APC has failed to serve the needs of the populace, prioritizing their own interests instead.”
He also condemned the harsh treatment of those who dare to speak out against the government. “When citizens rightfully protest, they are silenced, often facing treason charges, while APC leaders live in luxury, indifferent to the struggles of the nation,” he said.
However, hope shines through in the form of Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the PDP candidate for Edo State governor. “Ighodalo embodies integrity and vision, offering a path to redemption where the APC has faltered,” Atiku affirmed. “He is ready to serve with genuine commitment to the people’s welfare.”
Atiku encouraged the citizens of Edo State to use their vote as a means of empowerment. “Ask yourself: Has the APC improved your life, or have they deepened your struggles? The answer is clear,” he declared.
A vote for Ighodalo represents not just a change in leadership but a resounding rejection of the deceitful practices of the APC. “For nearly a decade, the APC has betrayed the people, criticizing past leaders for raising fuel prices, yet now presiding over soaring costs of N900 per litre,” Atiku pointed out. “Their cruelty and disregard for the masses are unparalleled.”
“Voting for the APC means endorsing a continuation of misery and despair,” he warned. “Edo State, open your eyes. Don’t be fooled by the empty promises of the APC. Electing Dr. Asue Ighodalo of the PDP is more than just a vote; it is a reclaiming of our future.”
Atiku concluded with a call to action: “This is a choice to build on the good work of Governor Godwin Obaseki and to forge a future filled with prosperity and dignity. Let us head to the polls this Saturday, united in our determination to bring about the change we urgently need.”
“Cast your votes for Asue Ighodalo and usher in a new dawn for Edo State. The power is yours. Use it wisely.”
