Barcelona Faces Ticket Sales Ban Following Fan Racism

Barcelona has been prohibited from selling tickets for their upcoming Champions League away game against Red Star Belgrade in November due to the racist behavior exhibited by some supporters. This decision follows a fine imposed by UEFA, which penalized the Spanish club 10,000 euros (£8,330) for incidents of racism during a 2-1 loss to Monaco on September 19. Specific details regarding the nature of the racist behavior have not been disclosed.

This isn’t the first time Barcelona has faced repercussions for fan misconduct. Following a Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain last season, the club was initially handed a one-match ban on away ticket sales, which was later suspended for a year. In that match, three Barcelona fans were arrested for using racist language and reportedly making Nazi salutes.

As a result of this latest punishment, Barcelona’s supporters will be unable to attend the team’s match in Belgrade on November 6. Meanwhile, Hansi Flick’s squad continues to perform strongly, having won all seven of their La Liga matches this season and currently sitting at the top of the league table.
