Folakemi Falana, daughter of the esteemed human rights attorney Femi Falana, has taken a firm stance against recent bribery allegations involving Nigerian socialite Bobrisky. In an Instagram statement on Friday, she emphatically asserted that her father has never interacted with Bobrisky, dismissing the claims as baseless.

Folakemi revealed that Bobrisky had contacted her brother, Falz, requesting financial assistance for a VIP stay in prison, but failed to mention anything about a presidential pardon. She provided clarification on the family’s legal practice, stating that Falana & Falana has been applying for presidential pardons pro bono since 2016, emphasizing that any Nigerian can seek such a pardon for someone convicted.

Expressing her frustration over the rapid acceptance of unverified claims by some Nigerians, Folakemi criticized the gossip surrounding her brother’s personal life, including unfounded rumors regarding his sexuality and alleged relations with Bobrisky. “My parents and our firm have been advocating for presidential pardons long before many of you were born,” she remarked. “It’s unfortunate that some individuals act as if they can’t think critically. The audacity to accuse Falz of being homosexual and having an affair with Bobrisky is outrageous, and it’s shocking that some actually believe it.”

Folakemi laid out the facts: “1) My dad has never met or spoken to Bobrisky. 2) Bobrisky approached Falz for money to stay in the VIP section of prison, not for a presidential pardon. 3) Do you really think my dad or Falz needs Bobrisky’s money? For what?”

Condemning the allegations as entirely unfounded, Folakemi announced her intention to pursue legal action against the social media personality VeryDarkMan (VDM), stating, “Since you have refused to do the needful, #verydarkblackman, see you in court.”

This statement comes in light of VDM’s release of audio clips where Bobrisky purportedly claimed that Femi Falana and Falz had reached out to him before his imprisonment, alleging that Femi facilitated a settlement of 10 million naira related to his case. In response, Falz has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to VDM to retract all defamatory remarks.
