Elder statesman Bode George has urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to resolve his ongoing dispute with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. Speaking to the press on Thursday, George expressed concern over the failure of party leaders and members to intervene and hold Wike accountable for the discord within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He stressed the importance of unity and reminded everyone that no individual is above the party.

“What exactly has Governor Fubara done wrong?” George asked, expressing his frustration with the indifference shown by other party members towards the situation in Rivers State. He pointed out that Wike had played a significant role in Fubara’s election as governor, a fact which Wike himself has acknowledged. George condemned the actions of those who supported Wike’s attempts to disrupt the peace in the state, accusing him of attempting to control Rivers from Abuja.

George also criticized Wike’s earlier threats to fellow governors, questioning why the APC government had not sanctioned him, and why PDP leaders had not taken action. He suggested that those who continue to contribute to the division within the party should consider leaving if their loyalty lies with the APC.

In a direct appeal to Wike, George, who described the minister as a son, urged him to “calm down” and move beyond past hurts caused by friends during the last presidential election. George emphasized the need for Wike to focus on the progress of the party, reiterating that no one is bigger than the PDP.
