Dare Melody Shares Heartfelt Tribute to Late Wife Adedoyin, Revealing Family Struggles and Unwavering Support

Gospel singer Damilare “Dare Melody” Odunuga recently opened up about the immense struggles his late wife, Adedoyin, faced from his family, highlighting her strength and loyalty throughout their marriage. Known for his gospel hits like Eru Jeje, Ologun Loluwa Ninu Irin Ajo Mi, and Stop The Storm, Dare Melody shared an emotional tribute during her Christian wake, which took place on Friday. He recalled her as a woman of grace who stood by him through thick and thin, despite facing difficult treatment from his family members.
The couple, who had been together for 16 years before officially marrying at the Ikoyi Registry in 2017, shared three daughters. Dare Melody confirmed that his wife passed away on October 24 and was laid to rest in Ikorodu, Lagos. Her death came just over a year after her husband gifted her a home to celebrate her 45th birthday.
Reflecting on their life together, Dare Melody described Adedoyin as a “strong pillar” of his success, stating, “My family frustrated Adedoyin. I would often reassure her, saying, ‘Adedoyin, I’m the one you married; whenever you see me, put your mind at rest.’” He expressed that she had supported him through every hardship, even during a time when his music was banned from the airwaves for years. It was Adedoyin’s steadfast belief in his calling that encouraged him to release the 2010 record Goodness and Mercy, which revived his career and paved the way for his future achievements.

More Than a Wife, a True Partner
Dare Melody emphasized that Adedoyin was not only his wife but also a mother figure and an irreplaceable partner. He recalled how, despite limited means, she would still celebrate the smallest victories with him, saying, “When people celebrated the New Year, I ate biscuits with her and our one-year-old daughter. I told God, ‘If truly you’re the one who called me, let people know you did.’” This faith was rewarded, leading to a record that would bring his career back to life. He built a home, and with the help of a friend, made sure to gift her a place she could call her own.
Dare Melody also reflected on the day of her passing. He recounted their time spent together in prayer, unaware that it would be their last. While on a prayer mountain, Adedoyin fell ill, experiencing discomfort in her heart and hands. Despite efforts to help her, he expressed deep sorrow over the unexpected loss of the woman he described as his “rock” and “confidante.” He voiced a desire to be reunited with her one day, saying that if he could return to this world, he would choose to marry her again.
Family Tensions and Enduring Struggles
Dare Melody’s brother also spoke at the tribute, shedding light on the challenges Adedoyin endured as a member of their family. He recounted an incident that occurred at a family gathering in Ibadan, where their late mother’s friends treated Adedoyin harshly, surrounding her and saying hurtful things. This treatment deeply affected Adedoyin, who was visibly upset but remained resilient, determined to stay strong for her husband.
Reflecting on her impact, Dare Melody’s brother admitted that their family’s current unity is due, in large part, to the lessons they learned from Adedoyin’s sacrifices. He acknowledged her as the type of woman who embodied honesty, hard work, and understanding, bringing warmth and togetherness to their family despite the difficulties she faced.
