Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the number of fatalities in the recent attack in Logo and Katsina-Ala local government areas of Benue State. According to various sources, at least 30 individuals lost their lives when armed assailants, believed to be herders, attacked several communities in the two regions.

The attack, which started on Sunday and continued into Monday, saw devastating results. Katsina-Ala LGA Chairman, Justine Shaku, confirmed significant loss of life, with 10 bodies recovered in his jurisdiction. Shaku also reported widespread destruction of property by the attackers.

In Logo, LGA Chairman Clement Kav claimed that the attackers specifically targeted the Tombo council ward. Kav reported that 17 individuals were killed, with 37 others injured. He further added that the assailants appeared to have claimed ownership over Tombo land during the assault.

However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, offered a differing account. She stated that only five bodies had been found at the scene of the attack, suggesting a much lower death toll than previously reported by the local leaders.
