The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a stern warning to skit makers about using its official gear without authorization in their content. This follows the viral spread of an old video titled “EFCC and Army Wahala” on social media.

In a statement shared via its official X account on Monday, the EFCC expressed concern over how its operatives are often misrepresented in such videos.

The agency called for an end to the unauthorized and inappropriate portrayal of its operational equipment, stating that such misuses undermine the professionalism of its agents. Specifically, the EFCC criticized the video for its “caricature” depiction of its officers, which distorts the reality of their conduct.

The agency condemned the video for portraying its personnel as intimidating “suspects,” branding it as an embarrassing and deliberate attempt to damage the EFCC’s image.

Reaffirming its stance, the EFCC emphasized that its operatives are not bullies, but well-trained professionals committed to maintaining decency, civility, and respect for all individuals, even those under investigation for financial crimes.
