The Federal Government, through the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), has officially announced the launch of its highly anticipated Subnational Tour. Kicking off on November 12th in Katsina State, the initiative seeks to enhance the Ease of Doing Business reforms at the state level, fostering stronger partnerships between government agencies, the private sector, and international collaborators.

The PEBEC Subnational Tour, running from November 12th to 14th, will offer a series of events, including town hall sessions, technical workshops, private sector engagement meetings, and an exhibition spotlighting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). According to a statement from Aimeya Okpebholo, Project Manager of the PEBEC Secretariat, the initiative is designed to strengthen the relationship between businesses and regulators, while promoting transparency and improving Nigeria’s overall business environment.

“The PEBEC Subnational Tour is a key part of our effort to improve the business climate in Nigeria,” Okpebholo stated. “We aim to foster collaboration between state governments, private enterprises, and international stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of business reforms at the local level.”

The first phase of the tour will be held in Katsina, bringing together stakeholders from six northern states: Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara. This collaboration aims to address regulatory challenges and streamline bureaucratic processes, ultimately enhancing the ease of doing business across Nigeria.

“The North-West edition of the PEBEC Subnational Tour will facilitate direct communication between entrepreneurs and government officials, allowing businesses to overcome operational hurdles,” Okpebholo explained. The tour’s activities are expected to provide practical insights and solutions for improving business operations and service delivery in the region.

PEBEC, established in 2016, has played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s business reform agenda. With more than 190 successful reforms aimed at reducing bureaucratic red tape, the council continues to drive efforts that promote a more business-friendly environment in the country.

This Subnational Tour underscores PEBEC’s ongoing commitment to improving Nigeria’s business ecosystem by providing a platform for collaboration and exchange between state governments, businesses, and regulators.
