Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, has urged all sons and daughters of Yoruba land, along with traditional rulers and practitioners of Yoruba traditions, to unite for the collective betterment of their people. Speaking during a visit by the executive members of the International Council for Ifa Religion (ICIR), led by President Fayemi Fakayode, Adams emphasized the importance of cooperation for the advancement and peace of Yoruba land, and Nigeria as a whole.

The visit, which took place at Adams’ residence in Lagos, was centered around advocating for unity among Yoruba leaders, particularly traditional rulers, to ensure the region’s development. In a statement released by the ICIR President in Ibadan, it was noted that the objective was to promote the peace and progress of Yoruba land.

Adams praised the leadership of the ICIR and commended their efforts to work for the welfare of the Yoruba people, calling for a continued focus on progress. “Unity is the key to development,” Adams stated, urging all adherents of Ifá and traditional religions worldwide to collaborate for peace and prosperity.

In his message, Adams also appealed to Yoruba monarchs to prioritize the security, peace, and development of the region. He encouraged them to be active custodians of Yoruba cultural heritage, as its promotion directly contributes to the economic and social growth of many nations across the globe.

Recent tensions among Yoruba monarchs and traditionalists, particularly regarding religious debates, have underscored the importance of Adams’ call for unity. These tensions, fueled by clashes between traditional beliefs and those of Islam or Christianity, have raised concerns about the need for cohesion in the face of modern challenges.
