Labour Party’s Agbo Declared Winner of Enugu Constituency Seat Following Court Ruling

The Court of Appeal in Enugu has officially declared Hon. Dennis Nnamdi Agbo of the Labour Party (LP) as the rightful winner of the February 3, 2024, re-run election for the Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency, effectively removing Hon. Simon Atigwe from the House of Representatives. This ruling supports the earlier decision made by the Election Petition Tribunal.
In a unanimous verdict delivered by a three-member panel headed by Justice Ekanem, the court affirmed Agbo’s victory. Following the judgment, Labour Party attorney Ifeanyi Ogenyi expressed his delight, congratulating the constituency and emphasizing that “truth and justice have prevailed.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had initially declared Atigwe the winner of the re-run election. However, Agbo, who originally won the election on February 25, 2023, but faced disqualification, contested this outcome through both the tribunal and the Appeal Court, ultimately achieving a favorable resolution.
