Ahead of Ondo State’s upcoming governorship election on Saturday, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has urged voters to let their “hunger and anger” be the driving force for change. He described the election as a defining moment for Nigerians, challenging the electorate to make a powerful statement about their demand for responsive leadership and development-focused governance.

Addressing voters through a newsletter titled “It’s Time to Make a Bold Statement,” Governor Makinde emphasized the importance of widespread participation in the election, encouraging citizens of Ondo State to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the vehicle for transformative change. According to him, the PDP stands as a vital force capable of steering Nigeria out of its current economic struggles, evidenced by the impact PDP-led administrations have had in various states across the nation.

“Let me begin by encouraging everyone in Ondo State to come out this Saturday and make a bold statement in the Ondo State elections,” Makinde’s message read. “Let all supporters of good governance stand up and say enough to policies that overlook the people’s needs. This is the time for Nigerians to rally behind the PDP as the party equipped to help Nigeria overcome its economic challenges.”

Makinde further highlighted the progress seen in PDP-controlled states, including his administration’s commitment to a “people-first” approach. He referenced Oyo State’s recently presented Budget of Economic Stabilization, which he described as designed to prioritize the welfare of residents through infrastructure and educational initiatives. With a projected 7:10 success rate in implementing budget items, he reassured voters of continued development and economic improvement under PDP governance.

“The people of Oyo State can expect more infrastructure development, more educational projects, and a path toward economic progress,” Makinde noted. “Similarly, we envision better times for all Nigerians if they support leaders dedicated to their well-being.”
