NDLEA Collaborates with Kano Community Groups to Fight Drug Abuse

In a significant initiative to address the rising drug abuse issues in Kano, the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has formed partnerships with various community organizations, including the Rano Apex Development Association, Rano Ce A Gabanmu Development Association, and the Rano Emirate Council. This collaboration aims to combat the increasing menace of drug abuse in the region.

During a courtesy visit to the Emir of Rano, Muhammad Umaru, Kano State NDLEA Commandant Ahmed Ahmed stressed the necessity of collective efforts in the fight against drug abuse. He expressed deep concern over the alarming trends in substance misuse and emphasized the importance of unity in addressing these challenges.

Representing the commander, Muhd. Kabir, Area Commander for Rano, Bunkure, Kibiya, and Garko, reaffirmed their commitment to tackling the significant abuse of Fortwin injections and marijuana in the Rano area. “This partnership will enhance our efforts to prevent drug abuse and support rehabilitation,” he stated.

Kabir also revealed plans to establish a rehabilitation center in the Rano local government area, alongside an upcoming drug awareness campaign aimed at ensuring a drug-free environment in the lead-up to the local government elections.

In response, Emir Muhd Umaru pledged his support for the NDLEA’s initiatives to combat the escalating drug abuse challenges within the community. Zonal Information Officer Rano, Rabiu Khalil Kura, noted that the visit was aimed at reinforcing the bond between the NDLEA and the Emirate, creating a united front in the battle against substance abuse in Kano State.
