The Nigerian High Commission in Nairobi is facing serious accusations of exploiting Nigerians seeking passport renewal services by imposing unauthorized fees. Revd. Br. Moses Fegher, a Nigerian missionary in Kenya, has raised concerns over the commission’s recent introduction of a $42 surcharge. This fee includes a $30 “Cash on Delivery” (COD) charge and an additional $12 transaction fee—costs that are not part of the official rates set by the Nigerian government.

Fegher criticized the lack of clarity surrounding these charges, particularly the COD fee, which he argues is not for courier services but instead an unfair practice. Furthermore, he highlighted that the payment system is limited to certain platforms, adding another layer of difficulty for Nigerians already facing financial challenges. These new allegations are reminiscent of previous claims of corruption within the Nigerian High Commission, prompting calls for increased transparency and accountability in its operations.
