Dr. Nsikak Akpan, a dedicated Nigerian lecturer, has embarked on an ambitious quest to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest continuous lecture, aiming to surpass the existing record of 139 hours, 52 minutes, and 42 seconds, set in 2014 by Indian professor Arvin Mishra.

Starting on Monday, September 23, at the Foreign Links College campus in Moro, Ife-North local government, Akpan is determined to deliver a 150-hour lecture marathon.

As of Wednesday afternoon, he had already completed an impressive 54 hours of uninterrupted teaching. The lecture, titled “The Relationship Between Man’s Environment and Health,” is being presented to an audience of students, with Akpan hoping to finish the challenge on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 5 p.m.

An alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Dr. Akpan’s aim goes beyond setting a world record. He hopes to raise awareness about the critical impact of environmental damage on human health, while also making a significant contribution to the academic world. Should he succeed, Akpan will become the first Nigerian lecturer to hold this remarkable achievement.
