The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has surpassed its ambitious gas production goal, reaching an output of 7.4 billion standard cubic feet per day (bscfd) ahead of schedule, with more than 60% of this gas now fully commercialized. Additionally, NNPC achieved a major milestone in crude oil production, recording a daily output of 1.8 million barrels (mbpd) amidst efforts to curb pipeline vandalism and crude theft.

These significant achievements underscore NNPC’s dedication to strengthening Nigeria’s energy sector, enhancing energy supply for both domestic and international markets, and contributing to the country’s economic growth. By boosting domestic supply and increasing export capacities, NNPC is positioning itself as a crucial driver of sustainable development in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

Lawal Musa, NNPC’s Chief Production War Room Officer, shared these accomplishments during a press briefing in Abuja, attributing the success to close cooperation between NNPC’s leadership, key stakeholders, and security agencies. Musa also noted the vital mandate from President Bola Tinubu to increase crude production, which has been pivotal in reaching these benchmarks.

Musa, who also serves as Senior Business Advisor to NNPC’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Malam Mele Kyari, emphasized the importance of these milestones as part of NNPC’s overarching strategy to transform Nigeria’s energy landscape, ensuring consistent growth and stability in the sector.
