NPFL Action: Rangers and Enyimba Clinch Vital Wins

In a thrilling display of football, defending NPFL champions Enugu Rangers achieved their first victory of the season with a narrow 1-0 win against Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos. This mid-week clash was crucial for the Coal City team, especially after their recent exit from the continental club tournament last weekend.
Rangers International triumphed over the debutants Ikorodu City FC thanks to a stunning header from Ugwueze Chinemerem. His goal, set up by an exquisite corner kick from Kazeem Ogunleye, secured three valuable points for the visitors. With this defeat, Ikorodu City now finds themselves at the bottom of the league table, sharing the position with Heartland of Owerri, and struggling to gain momentum.

In another exciting match, former champions Enyimba FC continued their strong start to the season with a 2-1 victory over Lobi Stars in Aba. Chinedu Ufere put the People’s Elephant ahead in the 14th minute, and just two minutes later, Eze Ekwutoziam extended their lead from the penalty spot. Although Lobi Stars managed to pull one back through Waheed Adebayor in the 36th minute, it wasn’t enough to secure any points, leaving Enyimba with two wins from their opening matches.
