The Ogun State Government has disbursed N2.64 billion in gratuity payments to retired public primary school teachers and local government employees for the fourth quarter of 2024. This gesture, announced by the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau of Local Government Pensions, Olufisan Osiyale, on Wednesday, highlights the state’s continued focus on the welfare of retirees.

Osiyale emphasized that the payment underscores the dedication of Governor Dapo Abiodun to ensuring senior citizens are supported in their retirement. “Governor Abiodun believes those who served diligently should be well cared for in retirement,” Osiyale remarked, praising the governor’s commitment amid challenging economic times.

The N2.64bn disbursement will go to retired Local Government workers and public primary school teachers, providing them with financial support. Osiyale encouraged retirees to stay healthy and balanced, urging them to offer their prayers and support to the governor.

Caroline Oguntola, Chairperson of the Retired Primary School Teachers Association of Nigeria (REPSTAN), also lauded the governor for his efforts, noting the increase in monthly pensions, gratuity payments, and subsidized rice sales. She urged Governor Abiodun to continue his positive initiatives for retirees’ well-being.
