The Forum of State Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its full support for Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagun, dismissing speculation about any parallel leadership within the party.

The declaration followed a crucial meeting held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, in Abuja, attended by 29 state chairmen. In a communiqué released at the end of the meeting, the forum described Damagun as “the authentic National Chairman of the PDP” and expressed confidence in the National Working Committee (NWC) under his leadership.

The chairmen also praised the judiciary, particularly Justice Akintola, for a “courageous and well-considered judgment” that cleared the way for the PDP’s upcoming National Elective Convention, scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The communiqué stated: “Total Support for the National Leadership: The Forum unequivocally reaffirms its total support, confidence, and loyalty to the National Chairman of our great Party, Ambassador Umar Damagun, and the entire National Working Committee (NWC).”

State chairmen urged delegates nationwide to begin full preparations for the convention, stressing the need to elect credible leaders who will strengthen the PDP ahead of future elections. They also highlighted the strong collaboration between Damagun’s NWC, the PDP Governors’ Forum under Senator Bala Mohammed, and the Board of Trustees chaired by Senator Adolphus Wabara, describing this synergy as vital for party stability.

On discipline, the communiqué called on all state chapters to apply the party constitution against members whose actions might threaten PDP unity or tarnish its image. The forum further reaffirmed its commitment to rebuilding public trust in the party and ensuring the success of its leadership.

In a pointed stance, the forum distanced itself from the faction led by Abdurahman, reportedly loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, insisting that “the PDP has only one National Chairman, Umar Damagun.” Any attempt to create a parallel leadership, it warned, would constitute sabotage against the party’s stability.

The presence of chairmen from the North Central zone reinforced the forum’s collective stand. The statement was jointly signed by Tony Aziegbemi, Edo State Chairman and Forum Chairman, and Edward Mashal, Kaduna State Chairman and Forum Secretary.

The communiqué concluded by reaffirming the forum’s readiness to uphold unity, internal democracy, and discipline within the PDP as the party prepares for the national convention in Ibadan.
