The Nigeria Customs Service, Ports & Terminal Multiservice Limited (PTML) Command, has achieved a remarkable milestone, collecting a total revenue of N288 billion between January and November 2024. This represents a significant 34.8% increase compared to the N213 billion collected in the same period of 2023.

Muhammad Yakubu, the Public Relations Officer of the PTML Command, announced the impressive figure in a statement released on Friday. The figure is a testament to the effectiveness of the command’s operations, as it not only met but surpassed its targets for the year.

In October 2024, the command set a new monthly revenue record, collecting N44 billion, the highest in its history. Tenny Daniyan, the Customs Area Controller, hailed this achievement, expressing confidence that the command could exceed this record in the coming months. He credited the success to the diligent work of officers, the compliance of port users, and collaboration with other government agencies at the port.

During the review period, PTML Customs made several important seizures, underscoring their continued vigilance in securing the nation’s borders. Among the seized items was a 40ft container (ACLU9664782), which contained various illegal goods, including used motor tyres, washing machines, fridges, and clothing, with a duty-paid value of N28.4 million. Additionally, another container (ACLU9810594) was found to contain large quantities of rice and soybean vegetable oil.

In addition to the seizures, several vehicles, including a Mazda CX5, Toyota Tacoma, and Lexus RX350, were found carrying live ammunition, cartridges, and firearms. The individuals in these vehicles were detained, with three suspects granted administrative bail.
