The Senate has called on Minister of Works, David Umahi, to address the alarming state of the Old Oyo-Ogbomoso road. During a session on Wednesday, the decision followed a motion raised by Senator Buhari Abdulfatai (APC-Oyo North), highlighting the urgent need to address the worsening condition of the road.

Senator Abdulfatai emphasized that the road, a key route connecting the South and North, has become a severe burden for commuters, causing frequent delays and accidents. He pointed out that despite over a decade of government efforts to repair the road, the situation remains dire, with regular traffic gridlock and articulated vehicles adding to the daily chaos.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio directed the Committee on Works to investigate the issue and report back within three weeks, aiming to find a solution to the long-standing problem affecting the region.
