Three Arrested for Brutal Murder of 32-Year-Old Man in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested three individuals linked to the murder of a 32-year-old man, Dahiru Musa, in the Dorayi Quarters of Kano. The suspects reportedly lured the victim under the pretense of a land transaction, poisoned him, and later burned his body to conceal the crime.
The arrests were announced in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, and made public on Wednesday. According to the police, the tragic incident was reported by Musa’s brother, who became suspicious after his sibling went missing and pointed to one of his close associates, Aliyu Adamu, 22, as a person of interest.
“On September 29, 2024, a concerned resident from Dorayi Quarters lodged a complaint that his brother, Dahiru Musa, had gone missing. He expressed strong suspicions regarding Aliyu Adamu, who was the last person seen with the deceased,” Haruna revealed.

The police immediately launched an investigation, leading to Adamu’s arrest the next day. During interrogation, Adamu admitted to conspiring with a friend, Mubarak Abdulsalam, 20, to lure Musa to his home with the intent of seizing his landed property. According to the report, they offered Musa poisoned food, and after he lost consciousness, they fatally stabbed him, wrapped his body in a sack, and dumped it in an unfinished building.
Further investigations revealed that after Adamu was taken into custody, Abdulsalam conspired with another accomplice, Sadiq Sunusi, 19, to burn Musa’s body using petrol in an attempt to destroy evidence. The charred remains were later recovered and taken for autopsy at the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano.
All three suspects are currently in custody at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, awaiting formal charges. Kano’s Commissioner of Police, Salman Garba, commended the public for their cooperation, urging residents to remain vigilant, especially when engaging in business deals in unfamiliar areas.
