Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani has expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to eradicating poverty throughout Nigeria. During a town hall meeting focused on the Presidential Grants and Loans Scheme for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Kaduna, he emphasized the administration’s dedication to empowering local businesses as a crucial step toward economic growth.

The event, held in partnership with the Bank of Industry, aimed to prepare potential beneficiaries for the N200 billion Presidential Intervention Fund, designed to support SMEs and manufacturers across the nation. Governor Sani, represented by his Special Adviser on Economic Matters, Ibrahim Mohammed, underscored that Tinubu’s government prioritizes poverty alleviation through sustainable support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which he described as essential for job creation and innovation in Nigeria.

“This intervention fund couldn’t have come at a better time,” Sani stated, noting its alignment with Kaduna State’s initiatives to foster a thriving business environment. He added that the state is focused on creating an ecosystem where innovative ideas can flourish.

Significant steps have been taken in Kaduna to enhance MSME growth, including initiatives from the Kaduna State Enterprise Development Agency that offer grants, subsidies, and business development services to local entrepreneurs. “We are committed to building Skills Cities to develop 21st-century skills, constructing roads to ease trade, and partnering with Afrexim Bank to improve product quality and export readiness through the African Quality Assurance Centre,” he explained.

Sani encouraged entrepreneurs to take advantage of the N200 billion Presidential Intervention Fund to expand their businesses and create new jobs. He called for collaboration among stakeholders, stressing that achieving the project’s goals requires collective effort. “We must reach out across every sector and community to promote these efforts,” he added, urging stakeholders to help spread the word to ensure more entrepreneurs can benefit.

According to the governor, Tinubu’s administration is dedicated to addressing poverty through robust support for MSMEs, viewing this approach as vital for economic transformation. “This initiative demonstrates that President Bola Tinubu is a listening leader, responsive to the challenges faced by small businesses and manufacturers,” he remarked.

In a related address, Mrs. Joy Oghiadomhe, representing the Bank of Industry, outlined the eligibility criteria for the grant and loan schemes, highlighting the critical role MSMEs play in the government’s strategy to tackle economic issues. She revealed that over 100 entrepreneurs in Kaduna have already received grants under this initiative, showcasing the program’s early successes.
