WAEC Urges Candidates to Recheck Withheld WASSCE Results Starting October 14

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that candidates with withheld WASSCE results can begin re-checking their scores from Monday, October 14, 2024. This update follows the Nigeria Examinations Committee’s 78th meeting, which took place on October 9, 2024.
In a recent post on social media via their official #waecnigeria account, WAEC shared the details, encouraging students to prepare for the upcoming re-check process. This meeting was crucial in addressing various issues, including malpractice and irregularities observed during the 2024 WASSCE for school candidates.

The meeting, which began on October 7, focused on maintaining examination standards, processing results, and establishing future policies to bolster the integrity of the examination system in Nigeria.
An announcement highlighted, “The 78th Meeting of the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) concluded on October 9, 2024. The communiqué from the meeting will be available shortly. Candidates can re-check their results from Monday, October 14, 2024.”
Students, parents, and educators are advised to remain alert for the forthcoming communiqué, which will detail additional developments and policies affecting examinations in Nigeria.
PUNCH Online previously reported that WAEC had released examination results on August 12, 2024. However, 215,267 candidates had their results withheld due to various reasons, prompting this important re-check initiative.
