British rapper and broadcaster Yung Filly has been arrested in Australia and now faces serious charges, including rape and assault. The 29-year-old, whose real name is Andrés Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was detained while on tour after allegedly attacking a woman in a hotel room in Perth.

Yung Filly was arrested in Brisbane and subsequently transferred to Perth, where the incidents reportedly took place on September 27, following his performance at a nightclub. He faces four counts of sexual penetration without consent and three counts of assault, along with an additional charge of “impeding a person’s normal breathing or circulation by applying pressure to their neck.”

During a recent court hearing, prosecutors presented evidence, including images of the woman’s injuries. Barrientos was present in court but only confirmed his name and acknowledged the charges against him. Police raised concerns about his potential flight risk and ability to influence witnesses, but the court granted him bail. He must remain in Western Australia, refrain from posting about the case on social media, and avoid any contact with the alleged victim.

According to ABC Australia, Barrientos’s lawyer challenged the prosecution’s evidence, suggesting weaknesses in their case. Originally from Colombia, he moved to south London as a child and began his broadcasting career on YouTube, where his comedic content gained attention. This led to his hiring by the BBC in 2019 to host the dating show Hot Property.

In 2020, he presented the reality game show Don’t Scream and quickly amassed a large following on social media, boasting 3.2 million followers on TikTok and 1.8 million subscribers on YouTube. He is also known for his successful podcast, The Chunkz and Filly Show, alongside fellow YouTuber Chunkz.

In addition to his broadcasting endeavors, Yung Filly has established himself as a musician. His career in music began in 2017, and his collaborative single with Chunkz, “Hold,” reached the UK Top 30 in 2020. Earlier this year, his track “Grey” charted for nine weeks and accumulated over 63 million streams on Spotify, where he currently enjoys more than 2 million monthly listeners.
