The lawmaker representing Tudun Wada/Doguwa Federal Constituency of Kano State, Hon. Alhassan Ado-Doguwa, has reaffirmed his faith in Nigeria’s judiciary, describing it as the last hope for the common citizen. His statement comes in light of the Court of Appeal’s ruling in Abuja on Thursday, which dismissed a culpable homicide case filed against him by the Kano State Government.

The court found that the Kano Government’s appeal lacked merit, upholding a previous judgment by the Federal High Court in Abuja that acquitted Ado-Doguwa. Notably, the Federal High Court had also ordered the Kano State government to pay a fine of N25 million for defaming the lawmaker’s character. This ruling, dated December 5, 2023, in suit no: FHC/ABJ/714/2019, cleared Ado-Doguwa of all murder allegations.

In response to the ruling, Ado-Doguwa stated, “This is a testament to our strong and dependable judicial system. Winning a case against a determined state government like that of Kano demonstrates that Nigeria’s judiciary is indeed the only hope for the average person. I thank Allah for vindicating me and freeing me from the schemes of my political rivals. I encourage my constituents to celebrate this victory with gratitude and maintain peace and order.”

He added that he views the entire judicial process as a divine act and sees it as a chance to prepare himself for greater leadership challenges ahead.
