Akwa Ibom State Honors Late First Lady with Half-Mast Flags

Akwa Ibom State has announced that flags will be flown at half-mast across all government buildings and facilities in a heartfelt tribute to Pastor Umo Eno’s late wife, Patience, who passed away in the early hours of Friday. This gesture represents a collective sense of grief shared by the state.
In a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, the loss of the state’s first lady was described as both “sad and painful.” Patience Umo Eno died at a hospital on September 26, 2024, surrounded by her family, as confirmed by the state Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong.

The statement, titled “Unexpected Sunset,” expressed, “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the Wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, following an illness. She passed away peacefully at the hospital, surrounded by her loved ones.”
The family has requested prayers and support from the community during this challenging time, as they submit to the will of the Almighty. They also ask for privacy while they mourn their cherished wife, mother, and grandmother.
