Covenant University has emerged as the best university in Nigeria for 2024, according to the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings. This prestigious ranking places Covenant ahead of other notable institutions in the country, reaffirming its position as a leader in higher education.

The rankings evaluated 1,907 universities across 108 countries, using 18 performance indicators spread across key areas such as teaching, research environment, research quality, industry impact, and international outlook. Covenant University, located in Ota, outperformed the University of Ibadan, the Federal University of Technology Akure, and the University of Lagos, which ranked second, third, and fourth respectively.

The 2024 edition highlighted a shifting landscape in global higher education, analyzing over 134 million citations from 16.5 million research publications and gathering survey responses from more than 68,000 scholars worldwide. Other Nigerian universities that made the top 10 include Bayero University, University of Ilorin, University of Nigeria Nsukka, and Afe Babalola University. The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta also earned a spot, ranking 10th.
