An irate voter named Christopher Adoghe has publicly criticized officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the delays in starting accreditation and voting at Ward 1, Unit 3. This particular unit is significant as it is where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, is set to cast his vote.

“We’ve been here since 7 o’clock, yet there’s no sign of INEC officials,” Adoghe expressed in frustration. “It’s almost 10, and nothing is happening. We won’t accept this! We haven’t seen any INEC personnel—just security guards. Look at everyone sitting here; there’s no sign of INEC. No accreditation, nothing is going on.”

Today marks the gubernatorial elections in Edo State, with over 2.2 million permanent voter cards collected. Candidates vying for the position include Senator Monday Okpebholo from the All Progressives Congress, Asue Ighodalo from the Peoples Democratic Party, and Olumide Akpata from the Labour Party.

The winner of this election will take over Osadebe House, the official government residence, which will be vacated on November 11 by the current Governor, Godwin Obaseki, who has completed two terms in office. As the day unfolds, the attention remains on whether INEC will address the concerns of frustrated voters and ensure a smooth electoral process.
