The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, has passed away at the age of 64. His death occurred on November 4, 2024, at a tertiary health institution in Ekiti after a brief illness, although official details surrounding his passing remain undisclosed.

Justice Adeyeye was appointed Chief Judge on October 11, 2021, by former Governor Kayode Fayemi, marking the beginning of a significant period in Ekiti’s judicial history. Born in 1960 in Araromi Ugbesi, Ekiti East Local Government Area, he was called to the bar in 1986. His legal career began as a State Counsel in the civil service of the old Ondo State. Shortly after the creation of Ekiti State in 1996, he joined the Ekiti State Judiciary Service Commission.

In 2002, Adeyeye was elevated to the position of a judge in the Ekiti State High Court, where he served with distinction.
