The FCT Police Command has initiated a vigorous crackdown on the rising incidents of ‘one chance’ criminal activities and car thefts in the nation’s capital. This comes as part of the police’s renewed commitment to securing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from criminal elements targeting motorists and passengers.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh revealed that the FCT Police have ramped up their efforts by deploying additional personnel and resources to enhance patrols, conduct stop-and-search operations, and improve surveillance across the region. This action specifically targets the growing concerns of ‘one chance’ robberies, where criminals deceive unsuspecting victims, and increasing cases of stolen vehicles.

Adeh also highlighted that the police would be focusing on cracking down on vehicles with irregular registration, including those missing plates, those with only one plate, or those with defaced plates. In addition, stringent measures will be taken against cars with covered number plates or excessively tinted windows.

“While these operations may cause some inconvenience, they reflect our commitment to ensuring the safety of FCT residents and preventing crimes targeting motorists and passengers,” Adeh said.

Since the operation’s commencement, the police have successfully recovered stolen vehicles and arrested several suspects involved in ‘one chance’ crimes. Residents’ cooperation has been instrumental, and vehicle owners are encouraged to ensure their vehicles comply with regulations to avoid further inconveniences.
