The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, Kogi State Branch, has expressed serious concern over the alarming rise in women kidnapping incidents across Kogi State, particularly in the capital, Lokoja.

In a statement released on Monday by Chairperson Lilian Ajuma Okolo, FIDA highlighted a disturbing trend: numerous reports of women being abducted and held for ransom have surfaced in recent months. This surge in violence has sparked fear and insecurity among local residents.

“This despicable act not only violates the rights and dignity of women but also reflects the deteriorating security situation in our state,” the statement emphasized. FIDA condemned these criminal acts and urged the state government and security agencies to strengthen their protective measures for all citizens, especially women.

The organization called for immediate action to bring the criminals to justice and encouraged Kogi State residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activities. “Only through collective vigilance and collaboration can we eradicate this threat and ensure the safety of everyone, particularly women and children,” Okolo stated.
