The Government of Ghana has confirmed that 44 Ghanaian nationals have been rescued from a fraudulent recruitment network linked to the QNET scheme operating in Nigeria. The victims were reportedly lured out of Ghana with false promises of employment opportunities and international travel before finding themselves trapped in exploitative conditions.

According to Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the victims were recruited through social media platforms and informal recruitment channels where they were promised well-paying jobs and travel opportunities abroad. However, upon arrival in Nigeria, the situation changed as they were allegedly subjected to psychological pressure, restricted movement, and forced recruitment tactics aimed at bringing more people into the scheme.

Authorities said the rescue operation was carried out through a joint effort between Nigerian security agencies and Ghanaian authorities. The operation reportedly took place in mid-March, leading to the successful rescue of the victims, who were later repatriated back to Ghana. The rescued individuals arrived safely in Accra a few days after the operation, where arrangements were made for their protection and reintegration into society.

The Ghanaian government expressed appreciation to Nigerian authorities for their cooperation and swift intervention in the matter. Officials also stated that investigations are ongoing to dismantle the criminal network responsible for the fraudulent recruitment activities and prevent similar incidents in the future.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its warning to the public about fraudulent recruitment schemes, especially those linked to travel and overseas job offers promoted through unofficial channels. Citizens were advised to verify all job and travel opportunities through official government institutions before making any payments or travel arrangements.

The government also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Ghanaian citizens both at home and abroad, while continuing to work with international partners to combat human trafficking and recruitment fraud. Authorities emphasized that fraudulent recruitment networks remain a serious threat in West Africa and urged the public to remain vigilant to avoid falling victim to similar scams.
