Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has expressed deep sorrow over the ambush that claimed the lives of several Community Protection Guards in Tsafe. This tragic incident occurred on Monday when a group of bandits attacked the security personnel at a checkpoint on the outskirts of the Tsafe local government area.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, Governor Lawal condemned the attack, labeling it a barbaric act perpetrated by bandits who are currently on the run. He praised the courage displayed by the Zamfara Community Protection Guards and other troops dedicated to safeguarding the lives of residents.

“I received the unfortunate report of an ambush by bandits yesterday in the Tsafe local government area, during which nine of our brave Community Protection Guards were killed,” the governor stated. He named the fallen guards as Nasiru Aliyu, Jabiru Hassan, Abdullahi Dangude, Bashar Bawa, Mu’azu Musa, Anas Dahiru, Anas Yakubu, Lawali Yunusa, and one additional guard whose identity has not been disclosed.

Governor Lawal characterized the bandits’ attack as cowardly, noting that they had been forced to flee due to ongoing military operations against them across the state. “The troops will continue their renewed offensive to defeat banditry in Zamfara and the entire region,” he assured.

Offering condolences on behalf of the government and the people of Zamfara, he extended heartfelt sympathies to the families of the fallen guards. “Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. I hope those injured recover quickly,” he added.

The governor also pledged that his administration would provide necessary support to the families of the brave guards who lost their lives in the line of duty.
