The Bauchi State Government has unveiled its 2025 budget of N465 billion, prioritizing health and education with the largest allocations. Health takes 15.08% of the total budget, while education follows closely with 15.04%, signaling a strong focus on healthcare services and educational advancement across the state.

During a detailed presentation on Friday, State Commissioner for Budget Aminu Hammayo disclosed that N70.228 billion is allocated to healthcare to bolster medical services and promote public health. In the education sector, N39.133 billion is earmarked for the Ministry of Education, alongside N30.8 billion for higher education initiatives.

The budget also reflects a notable increase in recurrent expenditure, attributed to the implementation of a N70,000 minimum wage and the contributory pension scheme. Recurrent expenditure is set at N69.99 billion, representing 39.3% of the budget, a significant rise compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, capital expenditure is pegged at N282.34 billion, making up 60.7% of the total budget.

In addition to health and education, sectors like agriculture and transportation are allocated N219.5 billion, while administrative activities receive N69.94 billion. Altogether, the social sector—including health and education—commands a combined allocation of N166.98 billion.

Governor Bala Mohammed, presenting the budget to the State Assembly on Thursday, reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to improving the well-being of citizens and driving sustainable development across Bauchi State.
