Award-winning Scottish comedian Janey Godley has announced the cancellation of her upcoming UK tour, titled Why Is She Still Here?, as she continues her treatment for terminal ovarian cancer. The 63-year-old comedian revealed that she is currently hospitalized and receiving treatment for sepsis, which is now “under control.”

In a heartfelt video shared on social media, Godley informed her fans that the cancer is spreading, prompting her doctors to advise her to stop working to aid in her recuperation. Her management team released a statement confirming that she has been living with stage four ovarian cancer for several years, but recent complications have necessitated a halt to her performances.

“Janey is devastated to let down her thousands of loyal fans and the wonderful venues she has played many times over the years,” the statement read. “She would like to thank everyone for their love and support at this difficult time.”

Godley gained significant attention during the pandemic for her viral video parodies of former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s COVID-19 briefings. She was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer in November 2021, and after a challenging journey that included a brief period of being cancer-free, she later announced the return of the disease. Despite the challenges, she had previously expressed her determination to continue performing, often drawing encouragement from fellow comedians like Jimmy Carr.

Earlier this year, Godley managed to perform in various cities, including Bristol, Epsom, Norwich, and Milton Keynes. However, with her health complications, she now prioritizes her recovery.
