The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has successfully arrested six individuals for various criminal activities. In a statement issued on November 14, 2024, Public Relations Officer SC Ibrahim Abdullahi confirmed the arrest of three suspected vandals and three motorcycle thieves in separate operations in the state.

The first group of arrests occurred in the Na’ibawa Quarters of Kumbotso Local Government Area, where the suspects were caught allegedly vandalizing and stealing armored cables from a transformer. The arrested suspects—Lawan Ahmed from Unguwa Uku Quarters, Ahmad Yusuf from Kawo Quarters, and Mujahid Kabiru from Kofar Waika—were detained after being caught in the act and attempting to sell the stolen items. The NSCDC has since launched further investigations to identify other members of the criminal network involved.

In another operation, three suspected motorcycle thieves were apprehended while trying to steal motorcycles in the Kano metropolis. Abdulrazaq Umar, 30, and Aminu Shehu Muhammad, 42, were caught attempting to unlock a parked motorcycle at a plaza on Unity Road. Musa Ibrahim, 30, was arrested in the Garun Malam Local Government Area after disassembling a motorcycle’s key to steal the vehicle.
