The Lagos State Government has announced major traffic diversions for the inaugural Capital City Race set to take place this Saturday, November 23. The race, a 10-kilometer event, will run from 5 AM to 11 AM, with several key routes in the city being temporarily closed to ensure smooth proceedings.

According to the state Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, several roads will be partially blocked, including the area from Shoprite Alausa Ikeja inwards Billings Way to Kudirat Abiola Way, Opebi Link Bridge, and Allen Avenue. Other significant closures include GTBank on Adeniyi Jones, AP Filling Station on Oba Akran Avenue, and the Samsung Authorised Service Centre towards the Police College Sports Secretariat/Gym.

Authorities are advising motorists to expect delays, as these roads and junctions will remain inaccessible for most of the morning. However, as the race progresses, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC) will manage intermittent access to ensure the flow of traffic where possible.

Residents are urged to plan alternative routes and be patient during the event.
