Sanwo-Olu Set to Unveil Ambitious 2025 Budget to Lagos Assembly

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will present the highly anticipated 2025 Appropriation Bill to the Lagos State House of Assembly today. The new budget is expected to surpass the ₦2.267 trillion allocated for 2024, indicating the Governor’s bold vision for the state’s future growth.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed the presentation but refrained from disclosing the specific budget figure. This year’s budget, labeled the “Budget of Sustainability,” will center around the key themes of continuity, resilience, and prosperity. It will focus on five major pillars: Infrastructure Sustainability, Economic Diversification, and Institutional Reforms, which align with the state’s broader development goals.

In 2024, Governor Sanwo-Olu had already committed ₦2.267 trillion to critical areas such as infrastructure, education, security, and technology. The capital expenditure alone for 2024 accounted for 58% of the total budget, amounting to ₦1.315 trillion. The 2025 budget will continue to prioritize these areas while pushing for more economic growth and improved living standards across Lagos.
Governor Sanwo-Olu has emphasized the need for robust budget implementation to drive Lagos’ development and solidify its position as a leading city on the African continent. As part of the budget, a major focus will be on completing ongoing projects and initiatives that align with the state’s THEMES+ agenda, which aims to foster a “Greater Lagos.”
