Manchester City Midfielder Matheus Nunes Arrested in Madrid After Nightclub Incident

Manchester City star Matheus Nunes has been arrested in Madrid following an altercation at a nightclub where he allegedly stole a man’s mobile phone. The Brazilian-born midfielder, who now plays for Portugal’s national team, was reportedly detained by local authorities after an incident inside La Riviera nightclub, according to reports from Daily Mail and El Mundo.

The situation unfolded when a man in his 50s attempted to take photos of Nunes without his consent in the club’s bathroom. In response, Nunes reportedly grabbed the phone from the individual and refused to return it. Police were called to the scene, and upon their arrival, they confirmed Nunes was still in possession of the device.

Nunes, who moved to Portugal at the age of 13 and became a naturalized Portuguese citizen, was handcuffed and taken to a police station in Madrid’s Arganzuela neighborhood for questioning. He was later released after his lawyer intervened, but he is expected to face trial for the charges linked to the incident.

Despite being released, this situation could still have legal repercussions for the 25-year-old player as Spanish authorities continue to investigate.
