Nigerian Army Launches Recruitment for Tradesmen, Non-Tradesmen, and Women

The Nigerian Army has officially launched its recruitment drive for the 88th Regular Recruits Intake, inviting applications from tradesmen, non-tradesmen, and women. This opportunity was announced on October 1, 2024, through the army’s official social media channels, with applications commencing on September 30.
Prospective candidates are encouraged to apply online, as the application process is entirely free. According to the army’s announcement, “The Nigerian Army wishes to inform the general public that the online application for 88 Regular Recruits Intake for Non-Tradesmen and Women will commence for all interested candidates.”
Applicants are reminded to submit only one application, as multiple submissions will result in disqualification. The registration period runs from September 25 to November 8, 2024. Interested candidates can complete their applications by visiting the official recruitment website.
Once applications are submitted, shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a screening exercise at their respective states of origin, scheduled for December 5 to December 19, 2024. The recruitment portal also provides detailed instructions for eligible applicants.

Key eligibility criteria include being a single Nigerian citizen, possession of a National Identity Card/NIN slip, and a Bank Verification Number (BVN). All candidates must meet the Nigerian Army’s medical, physical, and psychological standards and should not have any criminal convictions.
Additional requirements include a valid birth certificate or age declaration from the National Population Commission, hospital, or local government council, along with a certificate of state of origin. Applicants must also meet specific height requirements, with male candidates needing to be at least 1.65 meters tall and female candidates the same.
Age restrictions are in place: non-tradesmen and women must be between 18 and 22 years old, while tradesmen and women should not exceed 26 years of age as of December 31, 2024. All applicants are required to have a minimum of four passes in WASSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB over no more than two sittings. Those applying as tradesmen and women must additionally possess a Trade Test or City Guild Certificate.
Candidates attending the screening exercise should bring warm clothing, including a cardigan, head warmer, hand gloves, and a blanket, to ensure their comfort during the process.
