The Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Mrs. Oluwatoyin Madein, has confirmed that the government did not instruct employees to change their salary accounts. This statement comes in response to recent news suggesting that workers were directed to modify their salary accounts associated with the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) platform.

In an official statement released by Bawa Mokwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Accountant-General, Madein emphasized that the IPPIS office prioritizes the welfare of all workers and has no intention of issuing misleading directives. She noted, “The IPPIS Office has not issued any general directive to this effect as there is no reason to do so,” clarifying that any decision to change salary accounts remains a personal choice for each worker.

Madein urged financial institutions to enhance customer confidence and ensure they fulfill their obligations to employees whose salaries are processed through their banks. She highlighted the role of regulatory agencies responsible for assessing the health and viability of financial institutions, expressing confidence that these agencies are performing their duties effectively.

For those workers who might have valid reasons for changing their salary accounts within the IPPIS framework, Madein advised following the official procedures to ensure compliance and proper processing of requests.
