Victor Osimhen made a heartfelt tribute to his Galatasaray teammate Mauro Icardi following a stunning performance in their 3-2 victory over Samsunspor on Sunday. The Nigerian forward, who scored a brace in the Turkish Super Lig Game Week 12 clash, dedicated his goals to the injured Icardi, raising the Argentine’s shirt in front of the Istanbul crowd.

Osimhen gave Galatasaray the lead just three minutes into the match, and after Samsunspor equalized, he restored the advantage in the 55th minute. His brace brought his league tally to six goals in as many matches, further solidifying his impressive form since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli in September.

The 25-year-old striker’s celebration was deeply symbolic, as he held up Icardi’s shirt in honor of his teammate, who suffered a serious injury during their Europa League match against Tottenham Hotspur on Friday. Icardi, who had already been sidelined earlier this season with a muscle issue, will now undergo surgery for a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus damage in his right knee. Despite the setback, the club announced that Icardi has already started rehabilitation before his surgery.

Galatasaray is currently leading the Turkish Super Lig, and their victory against Samsunspor ensured their continued dominance in the domestic league. Meanwhile, Icardi’s injury has cast a shadow over the squad, but Osimhen’s tribute showed the strong bond between the teammates as they push forward in the season.
