In a heartfelt response to the recent flooding disaster in Borno State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has visited the affected areas to express solidarity with the local community and government. During his visit, he issued a directive to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator AK Kyari, to deliver an extensive aid package to the state, led by His Excellency, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, CON.

The Federal Government will provide a total of 6,000 tonnes of assorted food items, which includes:

  • 100 trailers of milled rice
  • 50 trailers of maize
  • 30 trailers of sorghum
  • 20 trailers of millet

In addition to food relief, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has allocated 2,000 water pumps to support communities still grappling with the aftermath of the floods.

To further bolster recovery efforts, a committee will be established under the National Agricultural Development Fund. This committee will assess the situation and make recommendations aimed at enhancing agricultural activities in Borno, ensuring that farmers receive the necessary support to rebuild their livelihoods.
