In a compassionate response to the devastating floods in Maiduguri, Borno State, President Bola Tinubu’s family has stepped up to lead a significant relief mission. Seyi and Yinka Tinubu, alongside Mrs. Layal Tinubu, spearheaded the initiative to provide essential aid to thousands of displaced residents affected by the disaster.

Partnering with the Noella Foundation, private sector collaborators, and volunteers, the Tinubu family distributed crucial supplies to help flood victims regain a sense of normalcy. Their efforts were part of a broader call by President Bola Tinubu, urging private individuals and organizations to support those impacted by the disaster.

During their visit, Seyi and Yinka Tinubu met with Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, and the Shehu of Borno. Seyi Tinubu, speaking on behalf of the team, emphasized the long-term nature of their commitment, saying, “Our goal is simple – to bring urgent relief to those who need it most. This is just the first step in a sustained effort to support Maiduguri and Borno State.”

Massive Humanitarian Aid Delivered

The relief mission brought substantial resources to address both food and non-food needs. The relief package included:

  • Food supplies: 1,000 cartons each of spaghetti, tomato paste, and groundnut oil, 500 bags of rice, 200 bags of maize flour, and 10,000 loaves of bread. Additional seasoning like 200 cartons of Maggi, 1,000 bags of salt, and 100 cartons of sugar were also provided to enhance meals.
  • Non-food essentials: 5,000 mosquito nets, 1,000 mattresses, 4,000 blankets, wash kits, and 4,000 kettles, wrappers, and mats to improve living conditions for displaced families.
  • Medical aid: Over 26,000 packs of antimalarial drugs, 35,000 packs of antihypertensives, and thousands of antibiotics, analgesics, and anti-ulcer medications. The relief effort also mobilized 50 doctors, working alongside the Borno State Ministry of Health to deliver medical care.

A Call to Action with Ongoing Support

Governor Zulum praised the swift response, assuring that resources would be distributed effectively to meet the community’s needs. With more donations on the way, the Tinubu family and their partners have pledged ongoing support, ensuring that no family is left behind in the recovery process.
