UEFA has launched an investigation into English referee David Coote, appointing an ethics and disciplinary inspector to determine if he violated the organization’s regulations. This comes after Coote was suspended on Monday by UEFA following reports of inappropriate behavior. A video surfaced showing the 42-year-old allegedly making derogatory comments about Liverpool and former manager Juergen Klopp.

The controversy surrounding Coote deepened after a separate video, published by The Sun on Wednesday, appeared to show the referee using white powder during his time as a match official at Euro 2024. This led to further actions from the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) and the Football Association (FA), both of which have launched their own investigations into the matter. PGMOL has expressed its concern over the allegations, and the FA has also initiated a probe following the viral video.
