Super Falcons midfielder Deborah Abiodun is making a name for herself in the NCAA Division I women’s soccer tournament with the University of Pittsburgh. The 21-year-old star, now in her second year at the institution, has earned a spot on the prestigious Second Team All-ACC for the second consecutive season, cementing her status as one of the top players in the league.

Abiodun’s impressive performance helped Pitt finish the regular season with a 9-6-3 record overall and a 3-5-2 record in conference play. After missing six games due to injury early in the season, she made a strong comeback, scoring her first goal in a victory over Clemson on October 3, 2024. Just ten days later, Abiodun scored twice in Pitt’s 3-0 win over Syracuse, showing her ability to make a significant impact on the field.

Her standout performances also included scoring Pitt’s only goal in a tight match against Florida State on October 20. Abiodun finished the season leading her team with four goals in ACC play, showcasing her scoring prowess. This marks her second recognition after being named to the Third Team and ACC All-Freshman Team in 2023.

In addition to her recent honors, Abiodun was also named PNC Achiever of the Week after her remarkable brace against Syracuse. Her first goal came from a header off a Pitt corner, followed by a second goal just minutes later from another corner kick, proving her clutch performance and ability to change the game.

Before her success in the U.S., Abiodun began her career with Rivers Angels Football Club in the Nigerian Women’s Football League, where her standout performances caught the attention of scouts, eventually leading to a full scholarship offer from the University of Pittsburgh. With a bright future ahead, Abiodun continues to shine on the international stage, representing both her university and the Super Falcons.
