Southeast Governors Impede Nnamdi Kanu’s Release, Family Alleges

The family of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has accused Southeast governors of obstructing his release. Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel, criticized these governors for failing to learn from other regions that effectively advocated for their freedom fighters.

In a recent statement, he questioned the motives behind the governors’ actions, stating they do not serve the interests of the region. Emmanuel particularly urged Governor Hope Uzodinma to step up as a leader by championing Kanu’s release. He also pointed fingers at Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja, alleging she is part of the issue preventing Kanu’s freedom.

Emmanuel raised concerns that both Justice Nyako and Morgaji Bichi’s rigid positions are damaging Nigeria’s reputation and casting the current administration in a negative light. He argued that those opposing Kanu’s release are inadvertently portraying the government as ineffective in the eyes of the international community.
