President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Jamiu Abiola, son of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, as the Senior Special Assistant on Linguistics and Foreign Matters. This new role underscores Tinubu’s focus on leveraging expertise for Nigeria’s global engagements.

In an official statement issued by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, it was revealed that Abiola’s appointment became effective on November 14, 2024. The appointment aligns with the amended Certain Political and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc.) Act of 2008.

Jamiu Abiola, previously Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties in the Office of the Vice President, brings a wealth of experience to his new position. The President emphasized the importance of Abiola’s collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, tasking him to utilize his expertise in advancing Nigeria’s linguistic and foreign policy goals.

The late Chief Moshood Abiola, Jamiu’s father, was the acclaimed winner of Nigeria’s annulled 1993 presidential election, a historical moment that still resonates in the country’s political landscape. This appointment reflects President Tinubu’s continued efforts to integrate qualified individuals with diverse backgrounds into his administration.
